Traffic Safety Culture

When AAA released findings from its annual Traffic Safety Culture Index, safe driving practices and actual driver behavior often collided, much like a baserunner crashing into a catcher blocking the plate.

AAA learned the race to get home from work likewise can carry a steep price. In a survey of more than 2,000 motorists, AAA’s data indicated:

1. More than 1 in 5 (21.4%) reported having been involved in a motor vehicle crash in which someone had to go to the hospital, including 11.1% who had been seriously injured in a crash themselves.

2. 60.5% talked on a hands-free cellphone, while 49.1% talked on a hand-held cellphone. 3. Drivers accept hands-free cellphone use (69%) more than hand-held cellphone use (24.6%)

Our culture has to change where the use of electronic devices while driving is unacceptable.
