In a group setting, challenge your employees to define distracted driving.
Set parameters by telling them up front this is an activity that requires common sense, not the use of a dictionary. Call on individuals and ask them to share their answers.
The Texas Department of Transportation provides some examples in its Talk. Text. Crash. — Distracted Driving Campaign:
- Posting on social media
- Checking email
- Eating
- Grooming
- Reading
- Programming a navigation system
- Watching a video
- Adjusting a radio, CD player or MP3 player
Conclude with this thought: Is it enough merely to talk about high-risk driving behaviors?
